Industry leaders braved the cold and ice in early February to build relationships with policymakers and advocate for power and broadband construction industry priorities at PCCA’s 2026 Washington, D.C. Fly-In. In his Q1 Inside Washington column, PCCA's Ben Brubeck talks about PCCA members meeting with dozens of U.S. Senate and House offices from both parties to deliver the association’s message directly to the lawmakers and staff shaping permit modernization legislation and other PCCA policy priorities like safety, workforce development, and labor and employment reform.
At the Annual PCCA Convention last week in Hollywood, Fla., the association inducted two industry stars into the PCCA Hall of Fame: Bob Sellenriek, founder of Sellenriek Construction, and John Hale, retired from John Deere.
The photo gallery and presentations from the 81st annual convention are available in the Members Only area of the PCCA website under the Education menu. (Login required.)
PCCA sent a letter to House leadership this week supporting permitting reforms in the SPEED Act that would shorten permitting timelines, reduce frivolous litigation, and clarify when NEPA analysis is required, making it easier for pipeline contractors to build the infrastructure Americans depend on.
"When attempting to maintain and build critical power and communication infrastructure, PCCA member contractors report needless delays, bureaucratic red tape, and uncertainty as a result of the National Environmental Policy Act," PCCA wrote.
"PCCA urges swift passage of the SPEED Act, expected on the House floor this week, because it supports power and communications infrastructure and lowers costs for families by increasing efficiency, public transparency, and accountability in the infrastructure permitting process."
