PCCA Hall of Fame
The PCCA Board of Directors created the Hall of Fame to recognize and celebrate the contributions that individuals have made over the years to the success of our association and to the success of the power and communication construction industry.
Current PCCA members can nominate as many people as they like. Once a person is nominated, he or she remains nominated in perpetuity and will be considered each year until inducted. Selections will be made by a Hall of Fame committee, which includes two Board members, two Past Presidents, and the current PCCA President. Enter your nomination today.
Steve Bauchman - Inducted 3/19/2019
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Steve Bauchman went to work in the field for his father, Robert Bauchman, one of the founders of PCCA. The elder
Bauchman believed that the construction business should be learned from "ground up" and "that one's education begins when one's formal education ends.”
The job provided Steve with the opportunity to live and work in most of the country, the Pacific, and the Caribbean. Bonneville Construction entered into a joint venture to construct a telephone system in Guam, where they were responsible from the switch to the telephone. They spent the next 35 years developing systems from the Micronesia to Puerto Rico.
Max Clark - Inducted 3/21/2017
Max Clark was inducted into the PCCA Hall of Fame on March 21, 2017, during the 72nd Annual PCCA Convention in Carolina, Puerto Rico.
“I was 17 years old and had just been fired from my job driving a delivery truck on a dairy route," Max said. "It was 1945. A Saturday afternoon. I walked six blocks down Main Street in Woodward, Oklahoma, to the field offices of Walco Construction Company. I was fired on one end of Main Street and was hired on the other end of Main Street to begin my career in what would become my life’s work, my dream job.”
Herbert Fluharty - Inducted 7/22/2016
PCCA inducted Herb Fluharty into the PCCA Hall of Fame on July 22, 2016, during its Mid-Year Meeting in Sandusky, Ohio.
Upon inducting Herb, PCCA Executive Vice President Tim Wagner said: "The work ethic and character of individual PCCA members is why this association and this industry have been so successful. Tonight we will honor one of those individuals--Herb Fluharty.
Jimmie Brooks - Inducted 9/25/2015
PCCA inducted Jimmie Brooks into the PCCA Hall of Fame on September 25, 2015, during its Mid-Year Meeting in Charleston, SC.
Jimmie Brooks, along with his father E.W., founded Brooks Construction Company, Inc., (BCCI) in 1956. Since then, guided by four generations of the Brooks family, BCCI has completed more than 58,000 miles of telephone line for more than 100 telephone companies.
Winston Weaver, Jr. - Inducted 9/25/2015
PCCA inducted Winston Weaver, Jr. into the PCCA Hall of Fame on September 25, 2015, during its Mid-Year Meeting in Charleston, SC.
Winston Weaver, Jr. began working for Rockingham Construction on summer crews between 1960 and 1966 while in school, and returned to the company in 1969 to work part-time as its first Safety Director while finishing college. After serving on the Operations Committee and in other positions, he became President of Rockingham Builders in 1969 and President of Rockingham Construction in 1982. During the late 1960s through the early '80s, Winston helped with the formation of a partnership and an equipment company related to Rockingham and both overhead and underground construction.
Ted Koenigs - Inducted 9/25/2015
PCCA inducted Ted Koenigs into the PCCA Hall of Fame on September 25, 2015, during its Mid-Year Meeting in Charleston, SC. 
Ted Koenigs graduated from high school in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, in 1945 and went on to serve in Casablanca, Africa, during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Marquette University with a degree in business, and in 1957, he opened a building specialties company with Jim Michel.
Edwin Malzahn - Inducted 3/7/2015
PCCA inducted Edwin Malzahn into the PCCA Hall of Fame on March 7, 2015, during the 70th Annual PCCA Convention in Aruba.
Edwin Malzahn is the founder and Chairman of the Board for The Charles Machine Works, Inc. located in Perry, Okla. In 1949, Edwin successfully produced the world’s first service-line trencher to replace the manual work involved withinstalling underground utility services. This machine created a new industry, and launched a line of Ditch Witch trenching products manufactured for use around the world.
Austin Shanfelter - Inducted 3/7/2015
PCCA inducted Austin Shanfelter into the PCCA Hall of Fame on March 7, 2015, during the 70th Annual PCCA Convention in Aruba.
Austin Shanfelter has been attending PCCA conventions for some 25 years now, but he can still remember his very first one and the impression it made on a young, up-and-coming contractor. "It was 1991 in Orlando, Max Clark's convention, and I was immediately impressed with the people associated with PCCA," he said. "I noticed how people conducted themselves and reached out to members like myself, and I realized that PCCA was a great way to network with these people and educate myself about the industry."
Stephen Spears - Inducted 3/7/2015
PCCA inducted Steve Spears into the PCCA Hall of Fame on March 7, 2015, during the 70th Annual PCCA Convention in Aruba.
Steve Spears, President of Bonneville Contracting & Technology Group, Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, served as PCCA President in 2003-2004, was a longtime Board member, and will long be remembered as the driving force behind PCCA's Leadership Development Program.
Gary Vermeer - Inducted 3/7/2015
PCCA inducted Gary Vermeer into the PCCA Hall of Fame on March 7, 2015, during the 70th Annual PCCA Convention in Aruba.
Gary J. Vermeer was the founder and chairman of Vermeer Corporation, in Pella, Iowa. He is known for his innovation and contributions to the agricultural and industrial equipment industries and for his philanthropic efforts that touch lives locally and around the globe.
Winston O. Weaver - Inducted 9/25/2015
PCCA inducted Winston Weaver into the PCCA Hall of Fame on September 25, 2015, during its Mid-Year Meeting in Charleston, SC.
Marion Weaver founded Rockingham Construction on February 5, 1937, after the Rural Electrification Act was passed in 1936 and seven months after the local electric co-op was formed. For the first 20 years, the company was primarily engaged in overhead electric power pole line distribution and transmission work.
