With an appeal that transcends barriers of age, culture, and occupation—plus an interactive and entertaining style—Steve shows audiences how to open doors to success in their careers, their relationships, and their lives. Presenting to over 250,000 people a year, more than two million have now heard him speak, in all 50 states and 15 countries. As one newspaper stated, “Steve is what happens when the humor of a stand-up comic collides with the inspiration of a motivational speaker.” Gilliland has written six books—Detour, Enjoy The Ride, Hide Your Goat, Making a Difference, The Cherry on Top, and Turn the Page—perennially making the publisher’s bestseller list. Speaking the language of active business leaders, his books and other resources identify practical lessons that grow people and their businesses. 10:30 - 11:45 am General Session: What Is Change Response Style? with Dr. Victoria Grady Even the most flexible, adaptable, unflappable employees form deep connections to the people, objects, and routines that represent their “normal.” When change disrupts one of these connections, it breaks the employee’s contract with “normal,” triggering a fight-or-flight response deep within their brain. Though powerful, this resistance to change is expected and therefore leverageable when practically addressed. This interactive session includes participants completing a sample version of the Change Response Style Assessment and a discussion of each Change Response Style and the nuances that leadership might expect from one change response style to another. Dr. Victoria Grady is the Academic Director of the MSM Graduate Program and Associate Professor of Management/Organizational Behavior in the School of Business at George Mason University. She is also the Professor in Residence for the Healthcare People and Change Practice for FORVIS. Victoria’s research portfolio focuses on the behavioral implications of organizations introducing and implementing organizational change. Her unique emphasis is the role of attachment behavior and transitional objects within the change process. 1 - 4:40 pm Laguna Beach Art Tour Tour lovely Laguna Beach!
