Towering glacial peaks, mighty rivers, amazing wildlife, and infinite landscapes await PCCA members at this year's Mid-Year meeting. Nature's grandeur combined with industry-specific education, important association business, and unbeatable networking opportunities make this year's Mid-Year a truly special event.
"The Alyeska Resort provides the perfect setting for our contractor and associate members to meet, make contacts, and figure out what we must do to jump-start our industry," said PCCA President Charley Duff. "The PCCA Mid-Year is a great place to learn more about where our industry is headed, gain knowledge to improve your company's operations, and allow you to have a voice in improving our industry."
Girdwood is on Alaska's south-central coast, just 40 miles south of Anchorage, which is accessible via an average of 170 in-bound flights daily. In July, the average temperature is around 65 degrees, and there is nearly 23 hours of daylight.
The Aleuts call the area "Alyeska, the Great Land," and the resort and the PCCA program offer opportunities to fully explore its splendor. The resort is tucked amid the Chugach Mountains, and among its many charms is an aerial tram that runs 2,300 feet above the valley floor.
PCCA has booked the Klondike Express, a high-speed catamaran, for a 26-glacier cruise of Prince William Sound, where members will view glittering icebergs, green fjords, and all sorts of wildlife. A full range of optional tours are available, including tours of Mt. McKinley and Denali National Park, flight-seeing, berry picking, white-water rafting, hiking, biking, and fishing.

The discussion will focus on what drives construction activity in our market, where the best oppotunities are, what the underlying trends affecting managers of construction firms are, what the strategic buyers are doing in our market, the status of the consolidation boom, and the keys to success over the next decade for power and communications contractors.

Phillips' 26 Glacier Cruise
|
Phillips' 26 Glacier Cruise is 135 miles of glaciers, marine wildlife, and the most breathtaking scenery in Alaska. Departing from Whittier, the M/V Klondike Express travels through Port Wells to College and Harriman Fjords, cruising in close, safe proximity to massive tidal, piedmont, and alpine glaciers that date back hundreds of thousands of years.
Prince William Sound's protective waters are the perfect habitat for countless species of marine wildlife and sea birds that fly from all over the world to nest during the summer months. Orca and humpback whales are commonly seen, as well as sea otters and seals lounging on ice floes, bears roaming the low lands, and mountain goats climbing the steep slopes that border the tidewater glaciers. Brad and Helen Phillips pioneered the day-cruise industry in Alaska. In 1958, Brad was the first to realize that the rest of the world would be as excited about seeing Prince William Sound as he was. Just six years after starting Columbia Glaciers Cruises in Valdez, the famous 1964 Alaska earthquake and resulting tsunami washed their boat out to sea, and the M/V Gypsy was never seen again. The Phillips replaced her with the M/V Glacier Queen, sailing between Valdez, Columbia Glacier, and Whittier. In 1984 the had the M/V Klondike specially built to run the 110-mile Yukon River in Canada. Two years later, the couple returned to the Sound and launched the first Phillips' 26 Glacier Cruise. Today, it is Alaska's most popular day cruise in Prince William Sound.
$130 ($96 for children under 12) per person includes private chartered transportation, lunch, four-hour cruise, and all applicable taxes, gratuities, and service charges.
